Matawan, NJ resident Rita Patel is a licensed pharmacist with over twenty-five years of experience, serving clients in need. An award-winning entrepreneur, she previously owned and managed Shayona Pharmacy in Perth Amboy, NJ. Rita Patel is a member of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA).
Founded over 120 years ago, NCPA is dedicated to promoting the interests of the 22,000 community pharmacies across the country. Community pharmacies provide one of the most convenient health care services in the entire nation. NCPA expresses its support for bipartisan bill H.R. 4946, known as the Ensuring Seniors Access to Local Pharmacies Act.
The legislation will provide seniors, living in medically underserved areas, access to lower copays at pharmacies of their choice that accept Medicare Part D plan’s terms and conditions for “preferred pharmacy.” At present, pharmacy benefit managers are informing numerous Medicare beneficiaries which pharmacies to go to, which may be further away than a community pharmacy that is willing to serve the beneficiary. It leaves community pharmacies out of the picture and may result in higher copay and travel costs for the beneficiary.
